We have three main modalities in CrossFit which we We have three main modalities in CrossFit which we split movements into:

	•	Gymnastics: Bodyweight movements that build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. This includes everything from air squats and push-ups to handstands and muscle-ups.

	•	Weightlifting: Moving external loads—like barbells, kettlebells, or dumbbells—to build strength, power, and technique. This includes Olympic lifts (snatch, clean & jerk) and powerlifting (squat, deadlift, press).

•	Metabolic Conditioning (MetCon): Workouts that train your cardiovascular and respiratory systems for stamina and endurance. Think running, rowing, biking, or any fast-paced circuit that gets your heart pumping.

These three elements form the foundation of CrossFit Time Keepers constantly varied, functional fitness approach.

Turkish Get-Ups: Not a Functional Movement as def Turkish Get-Ups: Not a Functional Movement as  defined by CrossFit.

While the Turkish Get-Up (TGU) is not classified as a “functional movement” by CrossFit standards—since it doesn’t involve moving large loads over long distances quickly—it remains a highly valuable exercise. Functional movements in CrossFit emphasize speed, power, and efficiency across broad time and modal domains, which is better expressed through movements like the clean, snatch, or thruster.

That said, we include TGUs as an accessory movement in our programming due to their benefits for shoulder stability, core strength, and joint range of motion. The slow, controlled nature of the movement makes it an excellent tool for reinforcing motor control, unilateral strength, and injury prevention.
